After a long wait, Stranger Things is finally back. Season 5 Vol. 1 is out, and the characters are in over their heads in their fight to destroy Vecna.
With Stranger Things’ popularity skyrocketing again, Netflix is celebrating the release with multiple surprises. One of them is that one of the fan favorite characters, Natalia Dyer’s Nancy Wheeler, is getting a spinoff. The only twist is that it’s not going to be a show, but a novel by TV writer and novelist Caitlin Schneiderhan titled One Way or Another.
Per the announcement, the upcoming novel, which hits the shelves on Dec. 2, has Nancy team up with Robin Buckley, played by Maya Hawke on the show, to solve a mystery. One Way or Another takes place after the end of Season 4.
The official description reads, “Hawkins, Indiana, is in recovery. It’s been two months since Vecna’s earthquake tore through the town, and its residents are still reeling from the devastation. Nancy Wheeler has spent every waking minute on the hunt for Vecna, but he’s continued to elude her. How can she head to Emerson for college in the fall if Hawkins is still under the influence of the Upside Down?”
Nancy begins to suspect a fellow classmate, Joey Taft, might be Vecna’s new victim as he starts acting weird. As she enlists Robin’s help, they discover that people around town are all getting sick, and a strange man is tailing her as she investigates.
The synopsis for the spinoff novel warns, “Together with Robin, Nancy embarks on a dangerous quest for the truth. The deeper the two dig, the further Nancy finds herself drawn into a web of intrigue that threatens to trap her in Hawkins … forever.”
What’s Happening With Nancy in Stranger Things Season 5?

The fifth and final season has just returned with new episodes on Nov. 26, and the series has answered some questions, all while asking others. In the first four episodes, everyone is dealing with the aftermath of the Upside Down spilling into Hawkins and trying to find ways to defeat Vecna.
Nancy and Robin play key roles in monitoring Vecna’s activity and planning crawls for Hopper (David Harbour) in order to find Vecna. Season 4 also came with many unexpected moments for Nancy, as the Demagorgons targeted her family and wounded their parents, and stole her younger sister, Holly.
Since the beginning, Nancy has been a major fan favorite, as she is extremely resourceful, smart, and would go to extreme lengths to protect those she loves. The spinoff novel is one of the many ways the Stranger Things franchise is expanding, with an untitled spinoff on the way, as well as an animated series.
Stranger Things will return with a new batch of episodes on Dec. 25, and the finale is set to air on Dec. 31.
