A great crowd gathered in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy to watch teams who had trained for weeks, battle it out for the Strictly Come Dancing crown.

After 12 weeks of rehearsals and gatherings, 15 couples took to the stage and delivered high energy and intricate performances – with some of the participants biting the bullet and learning how to dance for the first time this year.

Ultimately the winning crown on the night went to Nicole Cullen and Danny Nolan who put on a show-stopping performance for the cheering audience.

A member of the committee said that although it was a competition and fundraiser for the club, it ended up becoming something bigger and closer to their hearts.

“A night filled with pride, community, and the kind of magic that stays with you. When we first put out the call for dancers in February, we have no idea where the journey would lead. Some jumped in straight away, some needed a nudge, and a few last minute heroes turned up. But on Saturday night, when 30 dancers stepped onto that stage, they created something truly unforgettable. They lit up the room and showed us the heart of the Duffry Rovers,” they said.

“For 12 weeks, under the wonderful guidance of Alan and Krishanette, our dancers gave everything. Their time, their effort, their nerves, their joy. What they delivered was more than a performance. It was a statement. It was us,” they added.

Besides the in-person audience, the club set up a live stream to ensure that everyone could watch no matter their location, also setting up an online voting poll to determine the winners.

The club explained that they were incredibly grateful to their supporters and sponsors who made their “dream” a reality.

“To our sponsors, supporters, families, neighbours, and everyone who travelled near and far, thank you. Your support reminded us why this club is so special. And at the core of it all is our dream. A dream to create a place where generations will grow, play, and belong.”
