Signora Volpe, the British-Italian detective drama starring Emilia Fox, has gotten an exciting update.

The crime thriller series sees the Silent Witness star portray Sylvia Fox, a former spy who attempts to settle down for a life of peace and luxury in the picturesque Italian village of Panicale.

Her retirement doesn’t exactly go to plan, however, as she finds herself drawn to the allure of crime-solving in the local area, with the figure soon meeting the acquaintance of Capitano Riva (Giovanni Cirfiera).

What to Read Next

Written and created by Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths, Signora Volpe has aired two seasons in 2022 and 2024 thus far, and it has now been confirmed that Acorn TV has renewed the series for a third season (via Deadline).

“Season three finds former British spy Sylvia Fox mentally and physically recovered from her abduction at the end of [the second season] and back to enjoying her life in Italy,” reads the logline.

The synopsis also teases an investigation that takes place in a local winery, all while Sylvia’s relationship with Riva develops. She soon experiences an “emotional crisis” following a tragedy, with her “loyalties” being tested to the “limit”.

Production on the three-part season will reportedly begin this week in the Lazio and Umbria regions of Italy, with the traditional format of 90-minute episodes being kept for the upcoming season.

Though both seasons premiered on Acorn TV, all instalments are available to stream in the UK on U after they were added to the streamer earlier this year, though the second season has been divided into six episodes instead of three on that service.

The renewal order for a third season is sure to delight fans of detective dramas, with the series currently boasting an impressive approval rating of 7.2 out of 10 on IMDb from over 4400 reviews.

“I’m enjoying this – I don’t think too deeply about what could be real and what isn’t. I just watch it for pure entertainment,” wrote one viewer, while another praised the “interesting stories” and “beautiful scenery”.

Signora Volpe airs on Acorn TV while also streaming on U.
