Arthritis is the most common disabling condition – a term used by the DWP to encompass a variety of health conditions.
Sufferers typically experience stiffness, swelling, pain and inflammation in a joint.
The condition is worth over a third (35 per cent) of all the 1.7 million claimants on Attendance Allowance.
But many more people could claim, but may not be aware of the benefit.
Across the UK, an estimated 20 million people suffer from arthritis or similar conditions – close to one in three of the population.
Anyone living with arthritis, back pain, joint or muscle discomfort, or chronic pain could be eligible for DWP support.
