As per the Daily Mail, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson will be attending their granddaughter Athena’s palace christening. Their daughter, Princess Beatrice, and her husband, Edo Mapelli Mozzi, have reportedly organized the event at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. A source stated, “It’s going to be a royal occasion, but everyone is dreading the thought of seeing Andrew there.” Princess Beatrice allegedly has a strained relationship with the former Duke of York.
An insider shared, “Beatrice has, of course invited her father. ” However, “things are not warm between them.” Nevertheless, the 37-year-old is “worried about him.” She reportedly “recognises that he dotes on his grandchildren and it would be cruel to deprive him of the chance to attend the christening.” The individual further added, “Some careful conversations and diplomacy with King Charles will have taken place to get to this stage.”
Prince Andrew is expected to be filmed leaving and returning to his home in Royal Lodge, Windsor. However, the 65-year-old will reportedly not be photographed during the baptism and will stay away from the cameras outside the chapel. For the unaware, Andrew and Ferguson’s last appearance as royals was in September. It was the funeral of the Duchess of Kent at Westminster Cathedral in September. A source claimed, “Beatrice is determined to keep the focus entirely on her daughter.”
However, “there is no escaping the moment’s significance as this will be the former Duke and Duchess of York’s first appearance at a Royal Family event and possibly the last time he steps foot in St James’s Chapel.” It has been reported that Ferguson is looking for a new house in the Windsor area.
