Young Sheldon breakout star Iain Armitage is coming home to CBS‘ Thursday night lineup, but don’t expect to see him on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The talented actor is set to appear in an episode of Ghosts, playing a heightened version of himself, according to a new report! Per his character description, Armitage will take part in a high-stakes poker game at Woodstone mansion when he appears on the delightfully haunted series. While little else is known about the episode at this time, including its title, cameras are set to begin rolling today in Montreál with an air date set for April 16, 2026.
Armitage is best known for his work as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon, as well as his breakout role in the hit drama Big Little Lies. He’s next set to voice Shaggy in Scoob!: Holiday Haunt. He joins an impressive lineup of guest stars on Ghosts, which is currently airing its fifth season on the network. Season 5 has featured appearances from Superstore alum Ben Feldman and Blockers star Gideon Adlon, as well as the return of Veep’s Matt Walsh as Elias Woodstone and comedian Mary Holland as fan-favorite breakout Patience.
Ghosts is gearing up for its third holiday special with back-to-back episodes airing on December 18. Titled “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol” the two-part episode sees Sam (Rose McIver) finally get a big break on her book tour with a Christmas Eve TV interview, but knowing Ghosts, hijinks will certainly ensue as another festive possession is also in the cards. The second half of the hour will see Caroline Aaron return as Carol after getting sucked off in the Season 5 premiere to give Sam a glimpse of what life would look like if she could never see the ghosts.

But before you break out the hot cocoa and the tinsel, Ghosts’ next episode will dig into Alberta’s (Danielle Pinnock) past when “Creepy Todd” (Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll) returns. However, Todd isn’t there for Alberta this time — now that he’s a wildly successful podcaster in his own right, Sam is hoping to get a spot on the pod to inject some life into her book sales. However, according to the episode description, Todd is far more interested in Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar). Meanwhile, Pete tries to get to the bottom of why Alberta changed her name, following up on a joke from Season 4 and forcing the beloved jazz singer to admit a long-held secret.
Ghosts’ next episode airs this Thursday with the special two-part holiday special set to follow on December 18. The series will return from its winter hiatus on February 26, and Armitage’s episode is set to air on April 16.
