Only two runners for this novices’ chase, and it is hard to oppose MOON ROCKET following his excellent debut over fences over this course and distance a fortnight ago.
He was an above-average novice hurdler, but bettered his form in that sphere immediately, recording a smooth success and looking better the further he went. Gamesters Guy had similar form over hurdles and also shaped well on chasing debut, but it is hard to see him lowering the colours of Moon Rocket.
TOP TARGET seemingly hasn’t been the easiest to train, but he made a promising start over fences when third at Wetherby last month, leaving the impression he’d come on for the run, and he is fancied to build on it here now, moving up in trip to add to his points and hurdling wins.
Veteran Ladronne is feared most on the back of his comfortable Sedgefield win, although Lilting Verse returned with an encouraging Ffos Las second and can also have a say.
WHATSGOINGONMARVIN was the best of these with Flat experience, and his price tag at the sales suggests there were no long-term issues found after he’d stopped rather quickly at Pontefract when last seen.
He stands out on his first attempt at hurdling in what may not be the strongest race of its type. Dan Skelton’s newcomers are always of interest, so Dream’s Ka is shortlisted alongside Knighton, who showed promise on his sole Flat outing.
It can pay to give another chance to KELIJOE, who failed to fire with a tongue strap enlisted last time, but the headgear is quickly discarded, and he remains of interest in view of his encouraging handicap debut display at Chepstow.
Cumhacht looks very dangerous on the back of his Ffos Las comeback second, while Meraki Mist also found just one too good on his latest start and needs considering with Harry Cobden booked.
LAUGHING JOHN was expensive to follow last season. Still, he’s a good-looking sort who showed clear signs of ability when filling the runner-up spot on his first two starts before looking the likeliest winner when his jockey appeared to become unbalanced and unseated approaching the last at Chepstow when last seen.
He could be potentially well treated on his return and handicap debut from a low mark, and he’s taken to open his account. Courageous Strike likely needed his comeback run at Newton Abbot and is feared most.
A return to winning ways is on the cards for ROARING HOME, who has acquitted herself well in all three starts since undergoing a wind operation, most notably last time when going close at Warwick, where she was the sole mare in the eight-runner line-up.
She makes plenty of appeal back against her own sex from just a 2lb higher mark. Gina did the job well at Fontwell, and she is next on the list ahead of Police Academy and Pipers Cross.
GEORGES LAD came on plenty for his return when finishing a close fourth at Ascot three weeks ago and, with this step back up in trip sure to suit, he can prove himself well treated.
Castle Carrock impressed during his novice season and will find this much less demanding than the Greatwood, while Peacenik also needs to be considered with his reappearance under his belt.
