A Clare bar has been named the best southwest tourist pub in the regional leg of the Irish Pub Awards 2025.
Friels Pub in Miltown Malbay, County Clare, shared the news in a post on social media, saying they are “delighted” with the news.
“Absolutely delighted to receive the news this morning,” the post said.
“Thanks to all the people that make Friels Pub so special. Thanks, Irish Pub Awards.”

Comments on the social media post sharing Friels’ news are full of congratulations for the establishment, saying the award is “well deserved”.
“Well done Jonathan and all the team – a deserved accolade,” one comment said.
To many, it will be no surprise that the Miltown Malbay pub has taken home this prestigious award, with glowing reviews across the internet recommending those traveling to Clare visit the establishment.
“Best pub in Munster lives up to reputation,” one recent online review said. “Been to this pub many times always great, drink is excellent, wonderful atmosphere, great live traditional music every night over the summer lovely cozy fire in the winter. A true Irish pub.”
Another reviewer added: “Excellent pub – it’s got a great vibe and it’s a friendly one too… Good music and good pints of beamish! will be back soon! I highly recommend coming here!”
All eyes now turn to the national leg of the awards, where Friels could take home the award for ‘Best Irish Tourist Pub’.
The national award ceremony takes place on November 12 at a gala in the Mansion House, Dublin.
