Gardaí responded to reports of three cars on fire

A man in his 30s has been arrested after several cars were set alight on Dublin’s South Circular Road in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Gardaí attached to Kevin Street Garda Station are investigating all the circumstances following a “number of incidents of criminal damage by fire” that took place in the Dublin 8 area.

“At approximately 4.45am yesterday morning, gardaí responded to reports of three cars on fire outside residences on the South Circular Road,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“While attending the scene, members were notified of another car on fire on St Anne’s Road, approximately 100 metres away”.

Gardai requested the requested the services of Dublin Fire Brigade who discovered damage caused to an additional fifth car parked nearby.

No injuries were reported.

“Investigating members have today arrested a man (aged in his 30s) in connection with this incident,” the spokesperson added.

“The man is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region (DMR).”
