Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie revealed which MCU villain he would love to play
In an interview with Variety, Storrie, who portrays Ilya Rozanov in the hit sports romance drama, said that he wants to play the Thor villain, Gorr the God Butcher (played by Christian Bale in the MCU). He explained that the antagonist is his character of choice because he wanted to see what it’s like to be bald. He also mentioned that he would like to play someone “weird,” and Marvel’s Killer of Gods is certainly strange in almost every way.
The actor added that he was also intrigued by the villain’s overall appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder. Aside from being bald, Gorr is also gray and has some pretty disgusting teeth.
I want to be a supervillain, a new supervillain. I was already a part of the Joker. [Storrie played the unnamed asylum patient who fatally stabs Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux]. I want to be bald. Remember that Christian Bale character [Gorr the God Butcher] in that “Thor” movie where he was completely painted gray, and he had black teeth, and he was bald? Give me something weird like that.
Storrie isn’t the only member of the Heated Rivalry cast who wanted to play a comic book character. However, he chose to go the DC superhero route instead of a Marvel villain. His co-star and love interest, Hudson Williams (Shane Hollander), once mentioned that he would be interested in portraying Nightwing.
Gorr the God Butcher was created in January 2013, first appearing in Marvel Comics’ Thor: God of Thunder #2. Also known as the Killer of Gods, the character was created by writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic. The character’s anger towards the Gods was due to his upbringing. He grew up on a planet where food and water were scarce. His world also suffered from constant earthquakes, and no deities even bothered to help him and his people.
Aside from film and comics, the supervillain also appears in several video games. He is a playable character in both Marvel Strike Force and Marvel: Future Flight.
Heated Rivalry is a popular Canadian sports drama based on a book series called Game Changer by Rachel Reid. It follows two hockey stars, Shane and Ilya, who are opponents on rival teams. Storrie and Williams play the lead roles. The series also stars François Arnaud (Scott Hunter), Robbie G.K. (Kip Grady), Callan Potter (Hayden Pike), and Christina Chang (Yuna Hollander).
Heated Rivalry is available to stream on HBO Max and releases new episodes every Friday at 12:00 AM ET.
