Top writers pick their favourite titles across the genres

Who’s reading who? From top, Tommy Conlon, Marie Cassidy and Leon Diop; Miriam O’Callaghan, centre; and right, from top, Eoin O’Malley, Jessica Traynor and Eoin Devereux
I find it so hard to choose just a few books as I love reading and have enjoyed many this year, but here are my top four. From Crown to Harp by my work colleague David McCullagh (Gill Books) is a fascinating account of the unravelling of the Anglo-Irish Treaty and how we broke away from the Crown to become a Republic. David is not just a brilliant broadcaster, he’s also a fine historian, he carries his talents lightly and in this riveting book he makes history incredibly accessible.
