The popular pub is being redeveloped as a crecheThe former District 11 bar and restaurant in Glanmire

A well-known former bar is being advertised for rent as a “superb Creche opportunity.” The former District 11 bar in Glanmire is being redeveloped as a new childcare facility in the growing Cork city suburb.

The pub property at Crestfield Shopping Centre was previously a very popular bar and restaurant with an adjoining off-licence shop. Back in June 2024, it hit the market with a €1.9m price tag and was seeking a new owner to take over after more than a decade. The building was built and fitted out as a restaurant in 2002 and has previously been home to popular food businesses, including Bar BK2, which went for lease in 2012, and, most recently, late bar District 11.

The former pub is now up for rent with Lisney and is being redeveloped into a new creche and adjoining bank. Full Planning Permission has been granted for the development of a creche, and the premises are currently in “a shell and core” state and will require a full fitout. The creche will be located on part of the ground floor and the entire first floor.

Letting agent Amanda Isherwood describes it as a “superb creche opportunity” in an area that is “currently experiencing a shortage of childcare places.” Glanmire’s fast-growing population now exceeds 15,000, and there is a huge demand for childcare availability. The property is at the Crestfield Shopping Centre in the heart of Glanmire with parking and services by a bus route.
