Bournemouth Star Antoine Semenyo to Liverpool ‘Just Noise’

Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, but journalist David Lynch has hinted that it could just be ‘noise’.

Semenyo has enjoyed an impressive season with the Cherries, and he’s attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs. The tricky forward has a release clause in his contract, which is valued at £65m in the January transfer window before dropping to a lower price in the summer of 2026.

Liverpool could be in the market for attacking reinforcements next year, especially with speculation continuing to surround the future of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah. The Reds are yet to properly replace Luis Diaz, who joined Bayern Munich in the summer, so a new addition in the final third, particularly out wide, could be necessary.

Speaking on the Anfield Index YouTube channel, journalist Lynch has shared what he’s hearing on Liverpool signing Semenyo in 2026. The respected Merseyside reporter has hinted that Semenyo to Liverpool links could just be ‘noise’ coming from the Bournemouth end, rather than any genuine interest…

“From speaking to people, they say it’s very much Bournemouth driving up the noise. You can understand why that would be. I have personal questions just from analysing him as a player as to whether he would work for Liverpool. Just putting those two together, I’m just a little bit like, is this not just noise?”

It’s an interesting view from Lynch, with Liverpool already investing heavily in the summer transfer window, but there is an argument to suggest another winger could be ideal. Semenyo can play on either side of attack, which might make him a beneficial signing for the Reds.

According to reliable journalist David Ornstein, Liverpool fully intend to retain Mohamed Salah at least until the end of the current season, despite recent tensions. The Egyptian forward, under contract until summer 2027, sparked speculation after a public rant accusing the club of ‘throwing him under the bus’ following a draw at Leeds, leading to him being benched and omitted from a Champions League squad.

If Salah were to depart, that might impact Liverpool’s transfer plans with a new right-sided attacker likely a major priority, but for now, he remains at Anfield.
