Superman and Lex Luthor have met their match. Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel, is adding a new villain to Peter Safran and James Gunn’s DCU, one that’s never been in a live-action movie before. Lars Eidinger will be playing Brainiac, a genius android from the planet Colu, who’s obsessed with being the only being to obtain all the knowledge in the universe. “In our worldwide search for Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow, Lars Eidinger rose to the top. Welcome to the DCU, Lars,” Gunn posted on Instagram on December 20. Gunn teased that for the upcoming sequel, Luthor and Superman have to work together to defeat an even greater evil. And what’s more evil than someone trying to control all of the knowledge in the universe for themselves? Don’t get too excited to see what Brainiac does just yet; Man of Tomorrow isn’t out ‘til July 9, 2027. He’s keeping that for himself until then. Classic Brainiac!
