14:30 Doncaster – God Of War (each-way)

A Sunday dose of ITV Racing sees an action-packed show with the best of Doncaster and the Curragh up for grabs, starting here with a handicap over 7f.

Plenty of rain could be falling about the time of this race. GOD OF WAR is one who would like every drop of rain and was a good winner at Sandown last time. He’s up 3lb for that effort, but his only really bad run this term was in the Britannia, and he’s worthy of a mark of 96.

He’s one to back close to the off if the heavens open. But he’s still got an each-way chance if it doesn’t rain hard.

Over in Ireland, ITV head off here for the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes for juvenile fillies over 7f. I like the look of likely favourite COMPOSING in this for Christophe Soumillon and Aidan O’Brien.

The winner of her last three starts, my selection has been getting the run of the race, landing in a Group 3 and a Group 2 on her last two outings, including when defeating Suzie Songs last time. She stays well and that might be the key.

Here’s a handicap over an extended 6f. AKKADIAN THUNDER is one of those David O’Meara handicappers that is hard to predict, but he goes on ground with cut in it and he stays this trip well.

Won at this track in June off 89 and is now 6lb higher, but also ran very well at Royal Ascot when second in the Buckingham Palace. If he brings his best form, he has an each-way chance. Stall 1 is not ideal.

Another Group 1 in the Flying Five over, yep, 5f. I’ll be having a few quid each-way here on BUCANERO FUERTE, who kept on well to be 7th in this race last year.

I suspect that was a better renewal, and while ideally he might prefer a little further, he comes here in cracking form on the back of a Group 3 success at the track last time. Can make all or close. Colin Keane rides for Adrian Murray.

15:35 Doncaster – Ayr Poet

The famous Leger Legends Classified Stakes features riders from the past over 1m. Plenty of in-form horses. AYR POET may well go from the front and he’s in cracking form for Jim Goldie with a couple of wins and a decent fourth last time up in grade.

Goes on any ground and I’d imagine Gary Bartley can just bang him out and see if the others can catch him.

15:50 Curragh – Italy

On a cracking card now, it’s the Group 1 National Stakes for juvenile colts over 7f. ITALY will be a big price and less fancied for Aidan O’Brien than Gstaad, but provided he’s run to try and win the race, I suspect he’s better than we saw when second to Saba Desert at Newmarket last time. Ronan Whelan gets the big chance for a Group 1 and I still believe this horse has more to offer. A huge price for one of his ability.

16:10 Doncaster – Shuwari

The feature at Doncaster is the Group 3 Sceptre Stakes for fillies and mares over 7f. A lot of horses chasing Black Type here.

SHUWARI was placed in Group 1 company as a juvenile but then missed a season. She has come back this term with three runs and came from a way back in France last time to score nicely.

She will get a strong gallop to run at here with Spiritual in the line-up and can sit and pounce late for Ollie Sangster and Danny Muscutt.

16:25 Curragh – Illinois

A fourth Group 1 now with the Irish St Leger over 1m6f. I’d be all over another Aidan O’Brien inmate here in ILLINOIS under Christophe Soumillon.

The Ascot Gold Cup and Goodwood Cup hero has quite got home in his last two starts but now goes over what I suspect is his best distance and has cheekpieces added.

This is his big chance and I’ll be really disappointed if he doesn’t finish in front of the exposed Al Riffa.

16:40 Doncaster – Jer Batt

A handicap over 5f. JER BATT is another who would love rain to fall by this race, but the forecast suggests that it will happen, so the price could collapse late.

Has every chance on recent form for the Barron team and started this season with a fine third at Musselburgh, which would give him every chance. Callum Rodriguez is on top.
