A past pupil herself, Margaret’s story is closely woven into the fabric of the Loreto community.
Margaret began her career in Loreto as school secretary during the principalship of Sr Margaret Quirke.
She continued in her role under Sr Bridie Mullins and worked right through to the tenure of the current Principal, Anne McGrath.
Over more than four decades, she served the school from three different offices as Loreto evolved, adapting to enormous change while remaining a constant and calm presence.
Her working life spanned an era of significant transition, from the days of typewriters, handwritten reports and gestetners to the modern office environment.

Throughout this time, Margaret carried an immense workload with patience, precision and quiet dedication.
Her responsibilities included typing and copying exams, recording results, posting reports to every household, and recalling phone numbers without hesitation.
She also worked closely with generations of caretakers to ensure the smooth running of the school, often without the support of modern technology.
