A young Wicklow man accused of stealing €600 from a SuperValu in Greystones was remanded on bail until the new year
Bobby Carpenter (18), of Glenvara Park, Firhouse, Dublin 24, appeared before Bray District Court via video link from Cloverhill Prison.
It is alleged that Mr Carpenter committed theft at SuperValu on Church Road, Greystones, on October 10, 2025.
Counsel for the accused told the court that they had not yet received disclosure. However, the court sergeant said disclosure had been emailed to the defence in early December.
The court was told that the accused was allegedly standing in a queue when another customer purchased items. It is alleged that Mr Carpenter waited for the till to open, jumped over the counter, took €600 in cash, and fled the scene.
It was further alleged that the owner of the SuperValu chased the accused down the road and restrained him until gardaà arrived.
The court heard that Mr Carpenter was granted bail in relation to these matters but was remanded in custody on unrelated charges. Judge David Kennedy ordered that the accused continue on bail in this case until January 22, 2026.
