The Musgrave group, which owns the grocery and convenience store chains, announced the price cuts on the full range of SuperValu and Centra own-brand Irish butter products.
The reductions will be available across stores nationwide from today.
They will deliver savings of up to €0.60 per pack on own-brand Irish creamery butter products, including salted and unsalted options in both 227g and 454g pack sizes.
All SuperValu and Centra 454g own-brand butter products, including SuperValu Butter and Centra Irish Creamery Butter, will be reduced from €3.99 to €3.39, which marks a 15pc cut.
Meanwhile, all 227g own-brand butter products will reduce from €2.39 to €2.09, marking a 13pc cut.
This includes SuperValu Irish Creamery Butter, SuperValu Irish Unsalted Butter, Centra Butter, and Centra Unsalted Irish Creamery Butter.

Announcing the reductions, the company said it “understands the ongoing cost pressures facing households”.
“We continue to invest heavily in our own-brand range to ensure shoppers can access great quality products at the best possible prices,” a spokesperson added.
Dunnes Stores, Tesco, Aldi, and Lidl have been asked whether they will make similar price cuts.
It was revealed earlier this month that the average cost of a Christmas food shop was over €96, up €11 on last year, according to price comparison website Switcher.ie.
In November, Aldi and Lidl announced a price reduction on bread, both cutting prices of loaves by 10c to 85c.
In October, major retailers, such as Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, SuperValu and Dunnes Stores dropped the prices of their own-brand milk products to €2.35 for two-litre and €1.19 for one litre.
