More than a decade since it first began, one of the steamiest and most violent shows in history is all set to return for its eighth and final season, with a new teaser hinting at what’s to come. The hit historical fantasy series Outlander, which stars Caitriona Balfe as a former World War II military nurse in Scotland who suddenly finds herself transported back in time to 1743, is streaming on 
STARZ, with the studio releasing a surprise teaser for the final season as part of its “12 Days of Outlander” event.
Outlander Season 8 will once again be led by Caitríona Balfe as time-traveling WWII nurse Claire Fraser and Sam Heughan as the Highlander warrior James “Jamie” Fraser. “Watch a new teaser for the final season of Outlander and don’t miss the premiere March 6. Catch up on Seasons 1-7 on STARZ,” a caption alongside the new teaser (which you can check out below!) reads, with the footage teasing what will befall Claire and Jamie in this final chapter of a love story across time that’s beset with tragedy and violence.
Based on the book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander has been met with critical acclaim throughout its run, as well as acquiring a dedicated fanbase. While fans will be sad to see the main series end, this is not the end of the Outlander franchise or the success its found. This year’s prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has already been renewed for a second season, and follows the parents of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp, with the prequel series being met with similar acclaim to its predecessor.
The Fight for Fraser’s Ridge Has Only Just Begun…
Outlander Season 7 ended with Jamie’s fateful decision to resign his Continental Army commission and return to Fraser’s Ridge with Claire. Meanwhile, after an emotional family reunion, the MacKenzies needed to decide where and when to settle next, and a haunting cliffhanger left fans questioning the true fate of Claire and Jamie’s first daughter, Faith.
As Season 8 begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.
