Cullen’s hopes of playing in next summer’s finals are over after Burnley boss confirms worst fears

Burnley’s Josh Cullen goes down injured during the Premier League match at Turf Moor, Burnley
Josh Cullen is facing up to the devastation of being unavailable for the rest of Ireland’s World Cup journey after Burnley confirmed he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury against Everton last Saturday.
While a statement from Burnley said Cullen would be out for a ‘prolonged period’, his manager Scott Parker went further after his team’s defeat to Newcastle by suggesting a nine month timeframe for recovery for the 29-year-old.
