When Simon McCarthy visits Kenmare in County Kerry it immediately feels like home. As the CEO of the Coventry Irish Society, his love of Ireland is born out of emigration and being raised in a household wedded to preserving Irish identity in the UK’s vast multicultural matrix of nations.
Children of Irish emigrants are in no way precluded from feeling at one with their ancestral home. If anything, they are more inclined to feel prouder and at one with the home of their parents and those from the extended family tree.
