The first baby born in 2026 is a little boy named Elliot – who arrived into the world just 35 seconds past midnight.

Baby Ellliot weighed 3.66kg and was welcomed by proud new parents Rachel and Adam Deak, from Rathnew, Co Wicklow.

The Rotunda Hospital shared the good news of little Elliot’s arrival as the country celebrated a new year.

Meanwhile a little girl arrived just five seconds later. Baby Millie Elizabeth Kelleher, was born at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin. The infant made her appearance at 40 seconds past midnight, just as celebrations for a new year were breaking out across Ireland.

Weighing 6lbs 60z, the little girl’s arrival has brought joy for the happiest of new years to parents Sally and John Kelleher, from Naas, Co Kildare. And Millie Elizabeth will be welcomed home by her big brother, 20-month-old Max.

The first baby born at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin for 2026 was little boy, Kash, who made his appearance just two minutes past midnight as the country rang in 2026.

News in 90 Seconds – January 1st 2026

Baby Kash weighed 8lb 5oz. His mother Rebecca Burke, father Keane and brother Klay were delighted with the 2026 arrival of a new addition to the family. The family are from Dublin 8 and this is the couple’s second child.

The second baby born at the Coombe was baby Leo, who arrived at 12.05am, weighing 8lb 1 oz. Leo is the first child of mother Danielle McNamee and dad, Troy, who are from Lucan in Dublin.

The third baby born at the hospital was Baby Anjali, a girl weighing 6lb 13 oz. Baby Anjali made her arrival at 12.06am. Her mother Ranjitha Sivakumar is from Citywest in Dublin and Anjali is her second child.

The Coombe posted photos of its new arrivals on Instagram and wrote: “A very special welcome to babies Leo, Anjali and Kash – all born within six minutes of midnight at the Coombe Hospital.”

Baby boy Laso was born at 1.11am at The Rotunda, weighing 2.95kg to delighted parents Zilan Aziz and Halo Mohammed, from Dublin 15. While at 2.25am this morning a baby girl weighing 3.64kg was welcomed by parents Eanna Rennicks and Sean Tobin from Navan, Co Meath.

At Cork University Maternity Hospital, baby girl Frances O’Keeffe was born at 3.41am to mother Victoria Irwin and father Cirroc O’Keefe.
