Irish shares rose twice as fast as the big US stock markets in 2025, led by domestic banks, but gold was the standout trade last year.

The Iseq 20 index of the main Dublin-listed stocks rose 33pc in 2025, largely shrugging off fears that US president Donald Trump’s erratic tariff policies would hit investor confidence.
