Hull vs Watford – Watford to win
Both sides are performing well in the Championship, with the pair inside the top six heading into the weekend. Hull have encountered problems in their last five home matches, with defeats to Middlesbrough (1-4), Ipswich (0-2) & Stoke (0-1) – despite having 15 shots on the Stoke goal.
Watford are in excellent form, as since the start of December, the Hornets have been on an unbeaten run of seven league games. The visitors have won each of their previous four, with victories over Birmingham City (3-0), Norwich (0-1), Leicester City (1-2) & Stoke (1-0).
Portsmouth vs Ipswich – Ipswich to win
Portsmouth’s defensive woes were encapsulated in a 5-0 defeat at Bristol City on New Year’s Day. The rout at Ashton Gate means the hosts have gone 10 games without a clean sheet, and Pompey have picked up only one win in their last four matches, at home to Charlton (2-1).
Ipswich’s recent form has seen the visitors go four games unbeaten and the Tractor Boys are now firmly in the automatic promotion race. Kieran McKenna’s men have picked up 10 points in their last four league games, with wins over Oxford (2-1), Coventry (0-2) & Sheffield Wednesday (3-1).
Rotherham vs Mansfield – Mansfield to win
Rotherham’s league season is quickly curtailing, as the Millers find themselves in a relegation battle in the New Year. The home side suffered a 2-0 defeat against Peterborough last time out to extend their winless run to six league games, with further defeats against Blackpool (4-0), Bolton (2-1) & Huddersfield (1-3) in their last three.
Mansfield are one of the form teams in the division, as the Stags look to make it four wins from their last four games at Rotherham. Mansfield have picked up excellent wins against Barnsley (2-3), Bolton (0-1) and more impressively against promotion-chasing Bradford (3-0) last time out.
Bromley vs Oldham – Bromley to win
League leaders Bromley have the only unbeaten home record in League Two with eight wins and four draws from 12 matches. They are in the best form possible for potential league champions, as they have won each of their last six league matches with victories against Newport (2-1), Crawley (1-3) and Bristol Rovers (2-3) in their last three.
Oldham are unbeaten in five matches; however, away from home, the Latics have been inconsistent across the board this season. The away side have only won 33% of their away fixtures in the league, whilst averaging only 0.9 goals per game on the road.
Salford City vs Shrewsbury – Salford to win
Salford are on a tremendous run, as they take on a Shrewsbury side towards the bottom end of the league table. The hosts are unbeaten in their last seven league games, with five wins against Barrow (1-2), Harrogate (1-0), Barnet (1-3), Colchester United (4-3) & Crawley (4-3).
Shrewsbury’s league position can be narrowed down to their defensive woes, as the visitors have not kept a clean sheet in their last nine matches in all competitions. They’ve suffered four consecutive losses against Bristol Rovers (0-3), Grimsby (1-0), Cheltenham (3-1) and Chesterfield (0-1).
