Miley Cyrus wasn’t exactly forthcoming about her engagement to her boyfriend, Maxx Morando.
It was actually Morando’s father who first revealed the engagement when he posted pictures of the “Flowers” singer wearing a ring during her 33rd birthday celebration. In the picture caption, he congratulated Cyrus and his 27-year-old son, using emojis of a champagne bottle and a ring.
Later, at the world premiere of Avatar: Fire And Ash last month, fans spotted the ring on Miley Cyrus’ finger. Following that event, sources confirmed the couple was betrothed.
Now that the news of her engagement is out, you would think the singer would be a little more forthcoming about her relationship status. However, a recent red-carpet moment shows that this is not the case. We have the details below.
Miley Cyrus Still Feels Awkward About Her Engagement
The Hannah Montana star was at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards. She received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award for her song “Dream As One”, which is featured in the movie Avatar: Fire And Ash.
When interviewed by Entertainment Tonight with the movie’s star, Jack Champion, she was asked about her relationship status.
“Do you like saying, ‘This is my fiancé?'” asks Nischelle Turner.
“Oh, I get so cringed,” replies Cyrus. “I’m like, Oh, I get so cringed out. I’m kind of the dorkiest with stuff like that.”
She goes on to say that her new song fell into her life at the right moment.
“The pillar of [James Cameron’s] films is relationships, no matter what they look like,” she said. “To be able to kind of show up joyful and experiencing love in my own way is just so perfectly aligned… I feel like I’m in a good place to support the message of what this film’s about.”
Will ‘Hannah Montana’ Make a Return?
At another point in the interview, Champion mentions that he grew up watching Miley Cyrus on the beloved Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. The show is about to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
“Are you going to do something for the fans?” asks Turner.
“Absolutely,” she replies. “We’ve got to celebrate. There’s a big birthday party, I’m imagining. I want to honor Hannah as much as anyone.”
Sounds like 2026 is going to be a great year for Cyrus and her fans. You can watch the full interview below.
