Elvis Presley‘s Graceland held a special birthday celebration in honor of the late King of Rock and Roll on Thursday, but fans were “disappointed” after seeing footage of this year’s ceremony.

To mark what would have been Elvis’ 91st birthday on Thursday, Jan. 8, Graceland hosted its annual Birthday Proclamation Ceremony on the front lawn of the beloved Memphis estate.

Footage of the commemoration were shared to Instagram on Thursday, where many fans noticed that no members of Elvis’ family appeared to be in attendance.

As a result, many commenters mourned the fact that his late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, couldn’t be there, as she often attended the annual event to remember her dad when she was alive.

Lisa Marie attended Elvis’ birthday tribute in Graceland for the last time in 2023, just four days before her death. The only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie died from a small bowel obstruction on Jan. 12, 2023 at the age of 54.

“I miss Lisa Marie 😢” one fan wrote under a video of this year’s birthday tribute for Elvis at Graceland, while another person said it was “heartbreaking” not to see her there this year.

“Not the same without Lisa Marie 😢” someone else commented.

Meanwhile, the event was attended by hundreds of fans who lined up around Graceland’s front lawn. A few speakers, including Elvis’ longtime friend, Jerry Schilling, stood on stage to pay homage to the late “Suspicious Minds” artist.

“Nice seeing Jerry there but I really feel somebody from the family should have been there,” one user wrote in the comments.

Another echoed, “This was always such an event and Lisa Marie always made sure to be there. So disappointing that no one is carrying that on for her.”

Many other fans seemed to disagree, including one who countered, “So what. They have their own lives to live. I see no reason why any of them should be there.”

Plus, Elvis doesn’t have many living family members left. Aside from his ex-wife Priscilla—who shared an Instagram tribute to Elvis on Thursday—Elvis has just three living grandchildren, two of whom are still minors.

Elvis’ oldest granddaughter, Riley Keough, is an actress and a mother of two, while her twin sisters Harper and Finley Lockwood are only 17 years old and living in California.

Elvis also had one grandson, Lisa Marie’s only son, Benjamin Keough, who died in July 2020 at the age of 27.
