Artificial intelligence has imagined what music icon Elvis Presley might look like in modern times just one day after fans celebrated his birthday. The images emerge the day after what would have been the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s 91st birthday on January 8, if, of course, he hadn’t sadly passed away at the young age of 42 on August 16, 1977.

Found in the bathroom of his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee, Elvis reportedly died from hypertensive cardiovascular disease, having also suffered from a litany of health issues.

Indeed, Dan Warlick, chief investigator for the Tennessee Office of the State Chief Medical Examiner, who attended the King’s autopsy, claimed that his “chronic constipation” contributed to his death.

He once said: “Presley’s chronic constipation – the result of years of prescription drug abuse and high-fat, high-cholesterol gorging – brought on what’s known as Valsalva’s manoeuvre.

“Put simply, the strain of attempting to defecate compressed the singer’s abdominal aorta, shutting down his heart.”

Known for indulging in cheeseburger platters, Elvis abused prescription drugs and weighed 25 stone when he died. He also battled eye infections, back pain, insomnia, vertigo, hepatitis and a bleeding ulcer.

Considering all this, fans may be surprised to learn that AI has portrayed the King looking rather slim. Another aspect that appears to be unaffected by the King’s age or past struggles is his impressive head of hair.

In one image, a dour-looking (and somewhat tanned) Elvis, depicted wearing a white sequined suit and a salmon-coloured shirt, sports his legendary dark quiff and holds a microphone to his mouth.

In the second, a notably paler King sits in a wheelchair and wears a frilly white outfit that wouldn’t look out of place in a Tudor court; meanwhile, a modern touch is present in the form of Elvis’ distinct bejewelled sunglasses.

Also sporting a dour expression, Elvis looks in remarkably good shape for his 91 years and, again, enjoys a full head of luxuriously long, dark hair, which has been swept back off his brow.

The Suspicious Minds crooner was sadly reliant on a full-time nurse in the run-up to his death and reportedly declined to bathe for the whole of 1975, a refusal that would ultimately result in sores.

It would be his girlfriend, Ginger Alden, who discovered his body; he was reportedly found face down on the bathroom floor with his pyjamas around his ankles, having seemingly fallen from the nearby toilet.

Yet, Elvis‘ musical legacy continues to endure nearly 50 years after his untimely death, with the King selling an estimated one billion records and starring in an incredible 31 feature films.

Elvis was a major Hollywood box office draw, and, to this day, remains one of the world’s most recognisable and celebrated cultural figures.
