Ireland’s self-styled “most honest food reviewer” recently paid a visit to what he dubbed as Dublin’s “most talked about carvery”, and one particular item left him mightily impressed.
The online influencer, known as Paul_IsItWorthIt, ventured to Clonsilla Inn to sample their turkey and ham roast dinner.
Setting the stage before entering the establishment, Paul shared with his viewers: “This is meant to be incredible… spectacular some will say. This place has been serving up carveries for over 50 years. We have seen videos, the gravy looks almost like tar, it looks beautiful, nice and thick… tar in a nice way!”
He later asserted that “this is meant to be one of the best carveries in Ireland”, to which his cameraman John responded: “Oh, I’ve heard people raving about it.”
Once seated with his meal, he declared the food looked “tremendous”, and one specific element truly astounded him.

John made an observation about the sauce, saying: “I think the gravy is like the curry sauce to a spice bag. You know what I mean? It has to be done.”
Sampling the gravy with a roast potato, Paul enthused: “That gravy is thick, rich, salty and just the perfect consistency. That gravy is amazing, you can tell that’s coming from the juices off the meat. That’s no packet gravy.”
The carvery also included carrots and tender stem broccoli, both of which were described as delightfully sweet.
Paul praised the mashed potato as “spectacular”, although he found the ham and turkey slightly disappointing.
Paul remarked: “My criticism is the meats are slightly dry. I’d down them in that (gravy) so it wouldn’t be that much of a problem to me. That would be my one criticism.”

His carvery came to €16.95, which he deemed fairly standard, and by the conclusion of his video, which you can view in its entirety here, he delivered his final verdict out of ten.
Reflecting on his experience, he explained: “I thought the meat was slightly dry if I’m being honest. I thought the gravy was one of the best I’ve had and that actually helped because I just poured the gravy on everything.
“The mash was beautiful. The veg was nice and sweet. The roasties were average. They were ok. So with all that being said, €17 is about average, I’m giving this place a slightly above average score, price, taste, experience, a 7.5 out of ten.”
As Paul and John headed towards the exit, the manager intercepted them, mentioning they ought to have announced their presence.
Nevertheless, to ensure his assessments remain impartial, Paul deliberately maintains a low profile while allowing his cameraman to place the orders.

Discussing the unexpected encounter with the manager, he revealed: “He said his daughter was on TikTok and she saw us on there. But he brought us around and showed us the place.
“They’ve got an interactive darts out the back, a pool table, a huge screen, sounds like an advertisement, it’s not! We would definitely go back and drink there, it’s a class spot. It’s huge. It’s a Liverpool supporters club so if you’re a United fan maybe don’t go there.”
Following the video’s upload, one nostalgic viewer reminisced: “Wow, it’s about 15 years since I was last in the Clonsilla Inn and used to have a couple of pints in it regularly when I lived in Blanch. The pub looks fantastic since I was last there.”
