The White Lotus has captivated audiences since its debut four years ago, and now fans have received a welcome update on the highly anticipated fourth series.

Almost two months after HBO revealed that the next instalment would be set in France, it has emerged that production for the critically acclaimed anthology will be based at the Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez on the French Riviera – a 19th-century palace converted into a luxury hotel.

The Château de La Messardière, nestled within 32 acres of parasol pines, cypress trees, and jasmine, is part of the Airelles Collection.

This portfolio of five-star hotels is owned by Stephane Courbit, who also serves as founder and chairman of Banijay Group (“Survivor, “Peaky Blinders”), according to Variety. Rooms at the prestigious property start from £2,400 to £6,400 (and above) per night, with the hotel featuring a spa, beach access via Rolls-Royce transfer, restaurants, sporting facilities, and a children’s camp.

Plot details for the forthcoming season remain under wraps, with HBO only confirming it will again chronicle a group of hotel guests and staff over the course of a week. Nevertheless, insiders hint that the Cannes Film Festival may play a role in the narrative, The Mirror.

However, insiders suggest that the Cannes Film Festival could feature in the plot. Given that filming is set to take place on the Riviera during the festival, which runs from May 13 until May 26, this seems entirely feasible.

Ahead of the confirmation, series alum Parker Posey had hinted to E! News that the White Lotus guests had their eyes set on the French locale.

White and fellow producers had been dropping hints, too.

“We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,” executive vice president of HBO Programming Francesca Orsi told Deadline in February. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.”

Casting for Season four is currently in progress, with a significant number of French actors auditioning for roles.

Alexander Ludwig (“Earth Abides, “Vikings”) and AJ Michalka (The Goldbergs, Super 8″) are the first new cast members announced for the show. To date, only three cast members have featured in more than one season.

Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid in seasons one and two; Natasha Rothwell as Belinda Lindsey in Seasons one and three; and Jon Gries, who has portrayed Greg Hunt throughout all three seasons.

Season three, set in Thailand, boasted a star-studded cast including Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey and Aimee Lou Wood. As well as Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger and garnered eight acting Emmy nominations.
