On any given day, the dedicated staff at Cork University Hospital (CUH) care for hundreds of patients and more than 240 emergencies.

A new TV show, which follows staff and patient journeys at the hospital, continues next week. 

Each story was captured in one single day. Together, these stories paint a bigger picture of the work done in Cork’s largest hospital on a daily basis.

On Wednesday’s episode of Any Given Day: Cork University Hospital, we follow the journey of a four-year-old girl suffering prolonged seizures.

Howard has Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Treated by a multi-disciplinary team, he is in CUH today to check progression of his condition. MND is a severe degenerative disorder of the nervous system.

64-year-old Tim has advanced lung cancer. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy have reduced the tumour sufficiently to allow an operation to take place. Today Surgeon Kishore Doddakula will try to surgically remove all of the cancer in a bid to cure Tim of lung cancer and save his life.
