Dancing with the Stars is taking over the airwaves once again.

Since its debut in 2005, the ABC reality competition series has paired around 400 celebrities with over 50 professional ballroom dancers. This formula has earned the show over 20 Emmys and millions of viewers, many of whom can’t wait for the show’s grand return to the small screen.

“What was magic about the show in its heyday is back,” Rob Mills, executive vice president of unscripted and alternative entertainment at Walt Disney Television, told Variety in November 2024. “The lesson we learned this season is the same one we learned the first season, which is what the magic in the show is: the cast.”

This season, which premieres on Sept. 16, includes stars like Danielle Fishel of Boy Meets World and Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, as well as pros like Pasha Pashkov and Jenna Johnson. Season 34’s cast also features The Parent Trap actress Elaine Hendrix, actor Corey Feldman, NBA All-Star Baron Davis, comedian Andy Richter and influencer Alix Earle, among others.

Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough will once again serve as hosts, with Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough returning to the judges’ table.

The 34th season of the reality competition series airs its first episode on Sept. 16 on ABC. Fans will be able to cast their votes for their favorite couple during the live show.

In addition to watching celebrities dance their hearts out to either the tango, cha cha, salsa or jive, viewers can also expect to see a performance from the all-new Dancing with the Stars troupe. This group includes Carter Williams, Onye Stevenson, Jaxon Willard and Johnson’s niece, Hailey Bills.

Fans can tune in to ABC and Disney+ to watch performances live every week. Those who miss the live episodes can catch up by streaming them the following day on Hulu and Disney+.

Dancing with the Stars became the first live show to be picked up by Disney+ when it moved from ABC to the streamer for season 31 in 2022, Variety reported. The series moved back to ABC the following season.

“I think it helped going to Disney+,” showrunner Conrad Green told Variety. “A big audience did follow us there and we did engage with people who were more used to streaming. Therefore, when we came back to ABC, we’re finally reaching our audience wherever they are, because the way people watch TV has changed so much.

He added that returning to ABC “almost served as a bit of a reboot” for Dancing with the Stars, especially considering there were two new hosts.

The competition show will air new episodes every Tuesday on ABC, starting with the premiere on Sept. 16.

Though an official release schedule hasn’t been confirmed, previous seasons of Dancing with the Stars ran 10 to 11 episodes, which suggests the season 34 finale will likely fall around Thanksgiving.
