The European Commission is expected to open a formal investigation into X this week, over the spread of AI-generated “nudified” images.

It follows concerns around the use of Grok to create non-consensual images, including of children.

Gardaí are investigating around 200 reports, while EU officials assess whether the platform breached the Digital Services Act, according to the Business Post.

X has since said it’s restricting the tool.

Fianna Fáil TD and member of the Oireachtas Media Committee, Malcolm Byrne – who has left the platform – is describing its approach over the controversy as “shameful”:
