After flipping Sports “97.3 The Game” WRNW Milwaukee to AC in October, iHeartMedia is shutting down its statewide “The Game” network across Wisconsin.
iHeart had continued providing twelve hours of daily programming to affiliates across Wisconsin including their own “1070 The Game” WTSO Madison and “98.7 The Fan” 1400 WBIZ/98.7 W254CN Eau Claire as well as streaming in Milwaukee. Midwest Communications’ three affiliates 1440 WNFL/101.9 W270AJ Green Bay and 99.7 WDKF Sturgeon Bay, Wausau market “93.9 The Game” 1390 WRIG Schofield/93.9 W230BU Rothschild, and “710 The Game” WDSM Superior WI/Duluth MN had switched to Audacy’s Wisconsin Sports Network following the demise of WRNW.
With the end of the network, current 6-10am hosts Bill Schmid and Armen Saryan will be joined by former afternoon host Drew Olson for a new show on “Fox Sports 920” WOKY Milwaukee and WTSO. “The Huddle” will air on the two stations from 5-8am. Both WOKY and WTSO will feature Fox Sports Radio national programming the remainder of the day.
The shutdown of the network has led to the end of the 10am-2pm “DND” show hosted by Doug Russell, Nick Bruesewitz and Dave Gasper and afternoon show most recently fronted by Olson and Hunter Baumgardt following the recent exit of Kevin ‘KB’ Brandt.
iHeartMedia had launched the statewide network in November 2020.
