Blindspot actor Tariq Al-Saies has been cast as a lead in HBO Max‘s upcoming German crime series 4 Blocks Zero.
He will play the lead role of Ibrahim Mansour in the prequel to German crime drama 4 Blocks. Set in 1990s Berlin, the eight-episode series explores the early years of the Hamady family following their arrival from Lebanon, charting their ascent within the city’s criminal underworld.
Al-Saies is known for roles in the likes of ZDF’s Liberame – After the Storm, MBC’s Al Zind and NBC procedural Blindspot. He is represented by Actorsgarden.
With HBO Max having recently launched in Germany, 4 Blocks Zero is a key one for HBO Max in Europe this year. W&B Television is the producer, with a fall 2026 debut lined up.
The creative team includes head writer Bernd Lange, with Bahar Bektaş, Natalie Zoghbi, and Hassan Akkouch, and directors Özgür Yıldırım, Hüseyin Tabak, Matthias Bolliger, and Max Preiss. Executive producers are Quirin Berg, Max Wiedemann, Marcus Welke, Matthias Junge, and Yıldırım, with Anke Greifeneder overseeing the project for HBO Max.
Last month, we picked the show as a European drama to watch out for in 2026.
The original 4 Blocks ran for three seasons on Warner Bros Discovery’s German net TNT Series and ran on Prime Video internationally. It came to an end in November 2019.
