A couple who built a timber-clad home without planning permission said they did not think it was required.

Rebecca and Noel Somers erected a log cabin and storage shed, measuring 113 square metres, at Newhouse, Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, after spending years on the council’s housing waiting list.
