The first nasal spray version of adrenaline is about to arrive in Australia, costing $194 for a two-pack.

Branded Neffy, the single-dose first-aid treatment for anaphylaxis, similar to an EpiPen, will be Australia’s first new form of adrenaline available since 1993.

“Adrenaline is effective, but there are a number of barriers to its use,” said Professor Connie Katelaris, professor of immunology and allergy at Western Sydney University.

“Some people are genuinely afraid of needles, while autoinjector devices can also be difficult to carry around.”
