Tipperary University Hospital management is advising of changes to recent visiting restrictions at the hospital from Thursday, January 29.

Having been closed to visitors since January 9 due to recent flu and virus outbreaks, visiting of patients is now permitted daily from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Each patient is only permitted two visitors during this time.

“We continue to monitor and review the situation on a regular basis,” said a HSE spokesperson.

“Hospital management and staff would like to thank the public for their cooperation and understanding as part of these efforts to protect our most vulnerable patients.”

Visitors and staff are asked to wear surgical masks and ensure adherence to hand hygiene guidelines. Visitors are requested not to visit if they are feeling unwell as this poses a risk to loved ones and other patients. Children are not permitted to visit.

Members of the public are asked to not visit the hospital if they have any respiratory symptoms, such as cough, sore throat, runny or blocked nose, shortness of breath, fatigue, aches and pains, or gastrointestinal symptoms.

People should check the HSE website for useful advice on common illnesses such as colds, coughs, flu, earache and sore throats and keeping well. Further information can be found at www.hse.ie/flu.
