“It’s absolutely lethal what’s going on. Enough is enough.”
Those were the words of a councillor at the most recent meeting of Castlebar Municipal District, speaking in relation to the quality of manhole installation in the county.
Fine Gael’s Ger Deere has hit out at utility companies that leave the area around a manhole unfinished, creating hazards on the road.
Speaking at the meeting, he said; “I’d say for the last eight to 10 years, Eircom put down chambers and manholes and the state they left around them is unbelievable, for cyclists, for walkers and even for cars.”
