Andy Farrell named his Ireland team for the Six Nations opener against France on Tuesday, springing a number of surprises for the game in Paris.
James Lowe has been left out of the side in favour of Jacob Stockdale, with the likes of Michael Milne, Cian Prendergast, and Stuart McCloskey also included.
A few inexperienced players have been included in the matchday squad, but there was no place on the list for a certain Munster standout.

Farrell Explains Why Munster Star Left Out For Ireland vs France
Edwin Edogbo has been in brilliant form for Munster in recent times, earning a call-up to the Ireland Six Nations squad in the process. Many had tipped him to make his debut against France in Paris, although Andy Farrell has opted against including him for the fixture.
Speaking after his team was announced, Farrell explained his reasoning for delaying Edogbo’s potential debut (h/t Irish Independent):
He’s still learning.
You know, letting people taste the environment. We like to get people into the environment as soon as we possibly can to get the experience.
And obviously Edwin missed that and there’s an art to being able to get up to speed as far as international rugby is concerned and it would have been a fantastic week for him as far as that’s concerned.
So he’s had a great week. He’s had a great week. He’s still finding his feet like a few others.
It seems that Andy Farrell did not feel that Edwin Edogbo was quite ready to make his debut this week, although it could come later in the Six Nations.
In any case, at just 23-years old and having recovered from his serious injury issues, the Munster man is on track to have a big career in green.
