A woman has been convicted and fined €438, including legal costs, for parking in a Donegal Town disabled persons parking bay without displaying a permit.

Aisling McHugh, of The Mullins, Donegal Town, was found to be the registered owner of a vehicle which was on June 17, 2025, parked in a disabled persons space bay at No.1 Car Park without a blue badge.

The defendant was not present at the Donegal District Court sitting at Ballyshannon Courthouse, but Judge Éiteáin Cunningham was satisfied to proceed.

“Parking in a disabled bay is one of the more serious parking offences. Disabled persons need access,” Judge Cunningham said.

She convicted and fined McHugh €300 plus costs of €138, payable within four months.
