Fears over jobs and future of popular High Street retailer in Kilkenny

Concerns are growing about the future of well-known High Street discount retailer Eurogiant in Kilkenny following confirmation that joint provisional liquidators have been appointed by order of the High Court.

A printed notice on Kilkenny outlet’s window addressed “To Customers”, says Mark Degnan and Brendan O’Reilly were appointed Joint Provisional Liquidators of Euro General Retail Ltd and Bushgrove Ltd (trading as “Eurogiant”) on 4 February 2026.

It adds that, as the companies are insolvent, the joint provisional liquidators are not in a position to facilitate returns, refunds, or repairs of any goods purchased.

The notice provides guidance for customers seeking a return, repair or refund, asking them to contact the following email address together with proof of purchase (for example, a receipt): eurogeneralcreditors@interpath.com

It also states that the joint provisional liquidators are unable to accept Eurogiant gift cards. Anyone with unused gift cards is asked to send details, along with a copy of the gift card, to the same email address.

For queries regarding product warranties, the notice suggests customers contact the supplier of the product directly.

Euro General Retail Ltd and Bushgrove Limited, trading as EuroGiant, operate 77 stores across the country and employ more than 600 staff.

Joint provisional liquidation is typically used to protect a company’s assets while its position is assessed.

What happens next can range from an orderly wind-down to efforts to secure a rescue or sale.

What this means for the longer-term future of the business, including the Kilkenny outlet, remains unclear at this stage.
