Jamie Ritchie, Jamie Dobie and Jack Dempsey have all left the Scotland camp to have injuries assessed by their clubs, Scottish Rugby has confirmed.
The key trio started Saturday’s Calcutta Cup triumph over England at Murrayfield but were all forced off before the end.
Perpignan flanker Ritchie suffered a knee injury, Glasgow number eight Dempsey went off with a bicep issue and Glasgow back Jamie Dobie has a shoulder problem.
They are no longer with the Scotland squad, who are currently training in Spain ahead of Saturday’s Guinness Six Nations trip to Wales.
Head coach Gregor Townsend indicated after the 31-20 victory over England that all three players had suffered “serious” injuries that may prematurely end their involvement in the championship.
Dobie’s absence could open the door for at least one of Duhan van der Merwe or Blair Kinghorn – the two British and Irish Lions backs who have not even made the 23 for the opening two matches – to return to the squad for Cardiff.
Scotland sit second in the table, with matches away to Wales and Ireland either side of a Murrayfield meeting with France.
