Predeceased by his son Sean, parents Michael and Mary, sister Ann Flynn and brother Pat Finnegan.
John will be deeply missed by his heartbroken wife Patricia, children Gerard and Fiona, brothers Mick and Tom, sister Catherine, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Clonberne Community Centre, Clonberne, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway on Friday, 20th February 2026 from 5pm until 7pm.
Removal from the family home on Saturday to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Clonberne for Requiem Mass at 12.30pm, followed by burial afterwards in Clonberne Cemetery.
