The band’s new EP caught the music world on the hop this week. With little in the way of new original music for almost a decade, could we be about to see the veteran rockers finally stage a renaissance?

It has been almost two years since U2’s last live performance. It was March 2, 2024, and the occasion was the 40th and final show of their residency at the newly opened Las Vegas Sphere.
As the band walked off-stage, having just finished 40 – the final song on their 1983 album, War – the roar of the crowd ringing in their ears, they must have felt that they had achieved yet another milestone: delivering an audio-visual spectacular in the world’s most hi-tech concert venue.
