Ireland take on Wales in two weeks, in a Friday night clash at the Aviva Stadium (kick-off, 8.10pm).
Here is the team we would like to see take the field.
Front row
Jeremy Loughman has been relatively impressive in this campaign thus far, keeping Ireland’s scrum from being totally demolished in every game.
However, Tom O’Toole deserves a start to see if can be an improvement on the Munster man.
And with an eye to the future, this could facilitate Andrew Porter’s move back to tighthead.
There is an argument to start Rónan Kelleher, but you don’t want too many changes to a starting XV.
Tadhg Furlong could do with some more minutes to sort out his scrummaging issues.
Second row
Joe McCarthy and James Ryan were back to top form against England, but the Wales fixture is the pefect opportunity to unleash Edwin Edogbo once more.
Back row
Not much change needed here, but it might make sense to hand Timoney a start, and see if really is capable of taking the openside jersey from Josh van der Flier.
The Leinster man has been benched for his club in the past, and has always impressed as an impact sub.
Hopefully Jack Conan recovers in time to make the 23 after being ruled out of the England game at the last minute.
Half-back
Jack Crowley deserves to keep his place and build on his weekend performance.
It could, perhaps, be the time to bring in Nathan Doak.
With the cover that Crowley and Osborne provide across the backline, Andy Farrell can afford to bring Sam Prendergast back to the side.
Centre
Stuart McCloskey has fast become Ireland’s most vital player, providing crucial go-forward ball and slick assists.
There have been question marks over the form of Garry Ringrose, however, and lying in wait is the skilful Tom Farrell, who could add another dimension to Ireland’s attack.
Jamie Osborne could well be Ireland’s 13 by the time of next year’s World Cup, but he is needed at fullback for the time being.
Back three
Like McCloskey, Robert Baloucoune simply has to start, so the question is whether to bring in fresh legs on the left wing.
James Lowe looks like he may be unavailable for the game after going off injured against England, and Tommy O’Brien showed up his detractors – including this one – with his performance against England.
However, we feel that Jacob Stockdale also deserves a chance at redemption after Paris.
