Inflation in Greece came to 2.9% in January, according to the revised data that Eurostat released on Wednesday.

Earlier this month the European statistical service had estimated the European Union-harmonized consumer price index showed a 2.8% rate in January.

There was no change to the overall estimate for the eurozone: a 1.7% rate year-on-year, against 2% in December and 2.5% a year earlier.

Across the EU the inflation rate averaged 2%, down from 2.3% in December.
