An investigation is underway after a dolphin washed up on Streedagh Beach.
The mammal was discovered yesterday morning but died a short time later.
Both The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group and Sligo County Council have been notified.
Further examinations are due to take place.
People are urged to report any incidents of large dead marine life and are also advised to keep away from the dolphin for health and safety reasons.
