By this stage, you would think that there couldn’t possibly be any more rain left to fall – but you’d be wrong!

Met Éireann, the national forecasters, have issued a yellow rain warning for four countries on the west and south coast.

The warning is in place for Cork, Kerry, Galway and Mayo from midnight on Sunday until midnight on Monday, meaning all day Sunday there is a risk of heavy rain.

These spells of heavy rain could lead to localised flooding, poor visibility and hazardous travelling conditions.

As for the rest of the country, Met Éireann are forecasting a largely cloudy evening at first, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Drier weather and sunny spells will spread across the western half of the country through the evening in light to moderate southerly winds.

It will be dry tonight as lingering rain clears eastwards, but he rather wet and breezy conditions will feed up across the country overnight. TI twill also turn misty in places, with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Sunday will begin dull and breezy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Hill, mist and coastal fog will also occur. It will become windier through the day with heavier spells of rain for southern and western counties and spot flooding possible later.

Southerly winds will increase fresh to strong and gusty, reaching near gale force on some coasts. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Sunday night will be wet and rather windy, but this weather will clear eastwards overnight with longer drier spells developing across the western half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees with moderating southerly winds forecast.

Monday will start out largely dry with good sunny spells. However, it will become cloudier and breezier with some showery outbreaks of rain pushing in from the Atlantic, though much of the southeast will stay dry. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with freshening southwest winds are also forecast.

It will be generally dry for the evening as winds veer northwest and ease. Monday night will be dry, cold and clear with frost and icy patches. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees in light westerly breezes.
