X’s top tipster is predicting an unsurprisingly tetchy Old Firm derby.
Sunday’s Scottish Premiership Old Firm clash has all the makings of a belter. Hosts Rangers are four points behind league leaders Hearts, while Celtic are a further two points back on their old pals from across Glasgow.
Nothing but a win will do for either side here. Top tipster Andy Robson has value very much on his mind for this one and has three picks for a Bet Builder.
He’s got two player picks in here, all of which are covered by Paddy’s Super Sub offer, where any eligible bet made on a specific player carries over to their direct replacement if they get subbed off. Let’s get his Rangers v Celtic tips.

Rangers v Celtic

Where: Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow
TV: Sky Sports Main Event/Football
Liam Scales to be shown a card
Given John Beaton’s tendency to reach for his pocket in those fixtures, with 20 cards shown in his last two Old Firm assignments, the card market demands attention and Celtic defender Liam Scales represents outstanding value at current prices.
Scales has collected more yellow cards this season than any other Celtic player except Callum McGregor, with both men cautioned seven times. However, Scales has achieved that tally in fewer minutes, posting 0.3 cards per 90 compared to his captain’s 0.27, yet McGregor is available at just 2.20.
He has been booked three times in 10 league appearances against Rangers, and while he has gone five consecutive Premiership starts in this fixture without a yellow card, the intensity and pressure of this particular encounter promise to exceed those previous meetings.
A fascinating individual battle is brewing with Chermiti at Ibrox, and given the temperament of both players, this could well boil over spectacularly.
Youssef Chermiti to be shown a card
The cards market presents some compelling opportunities and Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti stands out as a particularly appealing price given his recent disciplinary record. He has collected four yellow cards in his last seven appearances, including bookings in each of his last two outings for the Ibrox club.
Players who accumulate a high foul count tend to attract the attention of referee John Beaton, who has brandished 20 cards across his last two Old Firm fixtures. Chermiti fits that profile perfectly, leading Rangers’ foul charts with 2.28 per 90 minutes this season, making him the most frequent offender in the squad.
He is set for his first Ibrox Old Firm start and can expect to be drawn into a physical confrontation with the Celtic centre-backs.
Celtic Corner Match Bet
Celtic have established themselves as the dominant force in the Premiership corner counts this season, and despite being outgunned 8-1 on their last visit to Ibrox back in August, there is good reason to anticipate a reversal of fortunes this time around.
Martin O’Neill will be demanding his players move the ball forward with urgency to pin Rangers back, and, against other opponents this season, that approach has consistently yielded healthy corner totals. In the seven Premiership matches since O’Neill’s return to the managerial hotseat, Celtic have never lost the corner count.
They have won that particular battle six times and drew with Hearts despite playing the majority of that game with 10 men. Further encouragement can be drawn from O’Neill’s previous experience against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final, when his side racked up a dominant 14-5 corner victory against their 10-man opponents.
Even in the reverse fixture when Rangers won 3-1 at Celtic Park, the Hoops still managed to edge the corner count 8-5.
