Cork County Council has announced a new free long-stay parking pilot initiative for Bandon, providing 28 spaces — including two accessible bays — at the Bandon GAA grounds.
The spaces will be open to the public daily from 8am to 7pm, with new signage to be installed on key approach routes to highlight the availability of the spaces.
Pedestrian access from the GAA grounds will link directly to New Rd, placing motorists within a short walk of Bandon town centre.
The initiative is a central element of the council’s wider parking strategy for the town, which also includes proposals for new timeregulated bylaws across four town-centre car parks.
A Cork County Council spokesperson said the free long-stay option aims to free up short-term parking in the town centre.
“By providing free long-stay parking at the Bandon GAA grounds, the initiative aims to increase the availability of short-term spaces within the town centre,” they said.
“Cork County Council, together with Bandon GAA, look forward to progressing this strategy to support accessibility, mobility, and economic vitality in the heart of Bandon town.”
